Text conversionElectronic images of printed or typed text documents can be read using optical character recognition (OCR) software, which effectively converts the document image into text characters in the computer.By converting an image into a text document by using OCR the paper documents essentially become electronic documents. These documents can be searched by using a single word or phrase enabling large number of documents to be searched through quickly and comprehensively. For example, you could search for the number of times the name of one of your Customers appears or cross reference this by another Customer or a particular month. By having your documents converted into text essentially your entire catalogue of paper documents becomes an interactive database but instead of having text in a cell you can see an electronic copy of the paper document and where your relevant text appears. |
